Job Description

Are you passionate about sports and eager to share your expertise in soccer, flag football, and basketball with young, enthusiastic learners? Do you want to gain valuable coaching experience in an educational setting while helping students build confidence and athletic skill?

As an After-School Sports Coach, you will guide elementary and middle school students through the fundamentals of soccer, flag football, and basketball. You will play a key role in fostering teamwork, movement, discipline, and personal growth in a supportive and high-energy environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead & Inspire: Direct engaging, high-energy sessions in soccer, flag football, and basketball, encouraging sportsmanship, teamwork, and active participation.
• Skill Development: Teach essential fundamentals—from footwork, dribbling and passing to shooting and play execution—tailoring instruction to accommodate beginners through intermediate skill levels.
• Class & Group Management: Maintain a safe, organized, and positive environment for K–8 students during after-school hours.
• Curriculum Execution: Implement structured BAM! Sports curriculums, ensuring sessions are age-appropriate, inclusive, and fun.

Qualifications

• Sports Background: 1–2 years of personal or instructional experience in at least one of the core sports (soccer, flag football, or basketball), with a strong passion for teaching youth.
• Educational Background: At least two years of college coursework (48 semester units), an associate’s degree or higher, or passing score on a local assessment meeting "Every Student Succeeds Act" (ESSA) requirements.
• Coaching & Leadership: Demonstrated enthusiasm for mentoring youth (prior coaching, teaching, or camp counselor experience preferred).
• Group Management: Strong classroom and behavior management skills suitable for K–8 students.
• Logistics & Clearances: Reliable transportation, a valid Driver’s License or State ID, and the ability to pass a standard background check.
• Physical Capability: Ability to demonstrate athletic movements and occasionally lift/carry equipment weighing 20–50 lbs.
• Availability: Must be consistently available during required program hours (Mondays 3:00 PM – 5:30 PM & Wednesdays 12:00 PM – 3:00 PM).

• Pay Rate: $32.00 / hour
• Job Type: Part-Time / Seasonal
• Program Dates: October 26, 2026 – May 26, 2027
• Schedule:
  • Mondays: 3:00 PM – 5:30 PM
  • Wednesdays: 12:30 PM – 3:00 PM
