About the Role
Graphika is seeking part-time analysts to support its industry-leading intelligence coverage of online communities and conversations. These people will have a strong understanding of social media and online technologies, able to quickly distill large amounts of data to identify actionable insights and deliver clearly written reports. Ideal candidates will have a proven ability to write quickly, concisely, and accurately, while juggling multiple competing demands to meet strict deadlines. We are looking for people who can demonstrate curiosity of mind, critical thinking, and impeccable communication skills.
These are part-time positions and well-suited for students or early career graduates looking to balance work alongside studies and other commitments. Graphika will provide paid training prior to starting the position and ongoing coaching throughout the engagement. Total hours, compensation, and schedules will be tailored for each person.
Areas of Responsibility
- Monitor for new and noteworthy developments in an assigned coverage area.
- Demonstrate a clear understanding of coverage requirements and priorities.
- Use Graphka and external tooling to identify actionable insights.
- Produce clear and concise intelligence reports detailing your findings.
- Work with Graphika production staff to hone assessments and reports that reflect in-house best practices
- Work quickly and consistently to a high standard of accuracy.
- Manage your own time and resources in order to meet strict deadlines.
- Conduct analysis with rigor, ethics, and professionalism.
Requirements
- Experience analyzing or investigating: the sale and promotion of dangerous or illicit goods online or trends in self-harm, suicide, and eating disorders on social media.
- Proven interest in how social media and online technologies shape the way we live.
- Ability to think critically and form sound assessments based on a variety of open-source indicators.
- Impeccable writing skills, able to quickly produce concise, accessible intelligence reports that communicate clear analytical value to our clients.
- A track record of working under pressure to meet strict deadlines.
- Nice to have: Experience using industry-standard tools, platforms, and databases to query, manipulate, and assess large volumes of open-source social media data.
