Maintenance Technician III - Freon Refrigeration & MHE

We are seeking a highly skilled Maintenance Technician III to install, maintain, and repair machinery, equipment, building infrastructure, and refrigeration systems. This role focuses on Freon refrigeration systems, as well as material handling equipment (MHE), motors, electrical systems, and general facility equipment. The ideal candidate is hands-on, safety-conscious, and able to work independently while adhering to regulatory and company standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair machinery, equipment, physical structures, plumbing, and refrigeration systems (Freon).

  • Perform preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance on electrical systems, refrigeration systems, MHE, and facility infrastructure.

  • Complete work orders and accurately log all tasks into the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).

  • Conduct inspections, evaluations, and testing of systems; report findings and recommendations to leadership.

  • Monitor contractors working on or near refrigeration systems to ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

  • Operate motorized lifts safely and maintain equipment as required.

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance system reliability and efficiency.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • 3+ years mechanical experience maintaining motorized lifts, warehouse, processing, or manufacturing equipment, or equivalent combination of experience and trade school.

  • 2+ years experience with pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical systems in automated facilities.

  • 2+ years industrial refrigeration experience (ammonia, Freon, and/or CO₂), or equivalent training.

  • Completion of Refrigeration Operator I course and/or CARO (or equivalent) within 6 months of hire preferred.

  • Basic electrical instrumentation knowledge and ability to read P&ID diagrams as needed.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and CMMS software.

  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and decision-making skills.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

  • Ability to work in temperatures ranging from -20°F (-25°C) in cold storage to 100°F (37°C) in dry storage while wearing PPE.

  • Able to lift and move a minimum of 40 lbs (18 kgs).

  • Comfortable with varying noise levels and occasional work at heights.

  • Flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and on-call as needed.
