Lead Credit & Collections Coordinator

The Credit & Collections Coordinator Lead evaluates customer creditworthiness, recommends credit lines based on company policy, and manages complex collection activities. This role serves as a subject matter expert, providing guidance to junior team members and collaborating cross-functionally to mitigate credit risk and optimize cash flow.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Independently review and validate credit references using internal and external sources, including credit reporting services.
  • Analyze financial statements and credit data to assess risk and recommend credit limits for new and existing customers.
  • Make trade credit decisions within established guidelines; escalate high-risk or exceptions to leadership.
  • Partner with Collections, Sales, Legal, and Finance teams to resolve disputes and ensure compliance with contractual terms.
  • Monitor and report on key performance indicators (days in review, DSO, collection effectiveness, bad debt exposure) and recommend process improvements.
  • Ensure adherence to SOX controls, company credit policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Contribute to policy development and continuous improvement initiatives within the credit and collections function.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to junior team members, act as a resource for best practices and system expertise.
  • Lead or participate in special projects related to credit risk management.
  • Communicate credit decisions and policies clearly to internal stakeholders and customers.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES):

  • 4+ years of credit and collections experience.
  • Strong knowledge of credit risk management and North American credit laws.
  • Proven ability to analyze financial data and make sound credit decisions.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, negotiation, and leadership skills.
  • Proficiency in Workday, Salesforce, Blackline, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
