The Fleet Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily transportation operations with a strong focus on fleet management, driver supervision, and equipment maintenance. This role ensures safe, efficient, and cost-effective
use of company assets while meeting customer service commitments and complying with DOT/FMCSA regulations. The Supervisor leads a team of fleet and partners with dispatch, while supporting routing, maintenance scheduling,
and driver performance. They play a critical role in maximizing fleet reliability, reducing downtime, and controlling operating costs, while fostering a safety-first, high-performance culture. The ideal candidate will combine strong leadership skills with expertise in transportation and fleet maintenance,
enabling them to drive operational efficiency, extend equipment life cycles, and deliver superior service in a fastpaced environment.

Daily Fleet Operations

  • Partner with dispatch to align driver assignments, routing, and load coverage as needed.
  • Monitor fleet utilization to ensure efficient asset use and cost control.
  • Supervise overall fleet performance, ensuring equipment availability, compliance, and operational readiness.
  • Ensure compliance with DOT/FMCSA regulations, HOS rules, and safety requirements.

Fleet Maintenance Oversight

  • Coordinate with maintenance teams to schedule preventive maintenance and inspections.
  • Monitor equipment performance, repair needs, and downtime; ensure timely resolution.
  • Track maintenance records, warranty programs, and compliance with inspection standards.
  • Partner with vendors, shops, and internal maintenance staff to manage repairs and control costs.
  • Support implementation of fleet maintenance software and ensure accurate data entry.

Driver & Team Leadership

  • Supervise and coach drivers, and logistics staff to ensure high performance.
  • Provide ongoing feedback, training, and mentoring with a focus on safety and compliance.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and set clear accountability for service, cost, and quality standards.
  • Support driver onboarding, orientation, and safety training.
  • Lead monthly driver safety meetings and facilitate additional quarterly sessions as needed to reinforce compliance, promote best practices, and address safety concerns.

Customer & Service Excellence

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers & vendors, ensuring on-time delivery and service quality.
  • Act as the escalation point for service issues, coordinating resolutions quickly.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align transportation and fleet strategies with business goals.

Continuous Improvement

  • Analyze fleet performance metrics (fuel efficiency, maintenance costs, downtime, driver turnover).
  • Identify trends and develop strategies to improve asset life cycles, reduce costs, and increase efficiency.
  • Support adoption of new technologies and tools to improve fleet safety and performance.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, safety, and accountability.
  • Partner with the Safety and Compliance team to conduct internal safety audits and implement action plans that drive effective resolutions

Minimum Requirements (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Transportation, Supply Chain, Business, or related field; or equivalent experience.
  • This role will require travel between 25%-50%.
  • 5+ years of experience in fleet, trucking, or transportation operations, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Strong knowledge of DOT/FMCSA regulations, safety compliance, and fleet maintenance best practices.
  • Experience with Transportation Management Systems (TMS), fleet management platforms, and ELD systems.
  • Familiarity with preventive maintenance programs, repair scheduling, and equipment lifecycle management.
  • Proven leadership and coaching skills, with experience supervising drivers and operations staff.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on operational efficiency.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to work with drivers, mechanics, customers, and internal teams.
  • Highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple priorities under tight timelines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and fleet/maintenance management software.
Pay Range:$75,400.00 - $135,600.00
