Refrigeration Mechanic - LurneaA skilled Refrigeration Mechanic is needed to maintain and troubleshoot industrial ammonia and CO₂ refrigeration systems within our Lurnea cold‑storage environment.
This role ensures plant reliability, supports contractor coordination, and upholds strict safety and compliance standards to keep our temperature‑controlled operations running smoothly.
About the role
Reporting to the Facilities Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring the safe, efficient and reliable operation of refrigeration systems across site.
You’ll be hands-on in maintaining critical infrastructure, while also contributing to system optimisation, energy efficiency, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key responsibilities
Maintain and manage ammonia refrigeration plant systems
Diagnose faults and perform root cause analysis
Conduct preventative and corrective maintenance
Monitor plant performance (pressure, temperature, energy use, alarms)
Coordinate maintenance activities with electrical, mechanical and automation teams
Manage contractors and ensure work is completed safely and to standard
Maintain accurate records, work orders and compliance documentation (MEX or similar)
Prepare SWMS, JSA and permit-to-work documentation
Respond to alarms and emergency situations in line with site procedures
Identify opportunities for efficiency improvements and cost optimisation
About you
You’re a proactive and safety-focused trades professional who enjoys problem solving and working in a collaborative environment.
You will bring:
Experience with industrial refrigeration systems (ammonia highly regarded)
Strong background in electrical systems and fault finding
Experience with maintenance management systems (e.g. MEX)
Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications and equipment standards
Strong communication, organisation and time management skills
A current driver’s licence
