Schedule:

This position supports a 24/7 operation and follows a rotating shift schedule. Team members rotate through day, swing, relief, and overnight shifts to ensure continuous facility coverage. Candidates must be flexible and available to work weekends, overtime, and changing shift assignments as business needs require.

Union:

This position is represented by Operating Engineers Local 302.

Pay:

$30.28-$40.64 based on experience

This role supports a 24/7 cold storage operation and is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on work, solving mechanical problems, and developing specialized skills in industrial refrigeration. You'll receive on-the-job training and work alongside experienced technicians while gaining exposure to ammonia refrigeration systems.

What You'll Be Doing

You'll help keep our facility operating safely and efficiently by maintaining refrigeration equipment, building systems, and facility infrastructure. Responsibilities include:

  • Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs on mechanical and electrical equipment.
  • Assist with the operation, inspection, and maintenance of industrial refrigeration systems, including ammonia refrigeration.
  • Perform routine maintenance on facility equipment and material handling equipment to support safe and reliable operations.
  • Complete work orders and accurately document maintenance activities using company systems.
  • Communicate equipment issues and repair recommendations to leadership.
  • Safely operate hand tools, power tools, lifts, and basic welding or cutting equipment as needed.
  • Follow all safety policies and procedures while maintaining a clean and organized work area.
  • Perform additional maintenance duties as assigned.

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

  • Mechanical aptitude and a willingness to learn.
  • Experience in one or more of the following:
    • HVAC or commercial refrigeration
    • Industrial or manufacturing maintenance
    • Mechanical repair or maintenance
  • OR completion of an HVAC or mechanical trade/technical school program.
  • Comfortable using hand and power tools.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and a desire to build a long-term career.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with ammonia refrigeration systems.
  • RETA, CARO, CIRO, or other industrial refrigeration certifications.
  • Experience in cold storage, food manufacturing, or industrial environments.

Physical & Work Environment

  • Ability to lift at least 50 pounds.
  • Comfortable working in cold storage environments (down to -20°F) and warmer mechanical spaces (up to 100°F) while wearing required PPE.
  • Ability to stand, walk, climb, bend, and perform physical work throughout the shift.
  • Comfortable working around industrial equipment, elevated noise levels, and at heights when required.
