The Food Safety & Quality Assurance (FSQA) Supervisor is responsible for leading and maintaining all food safety, quality assurance, regulatory compliance, and sanitation programs within a food manufacturing/repack operation. This position serves as the facility subject matter expert for food safety systems and partners closely with Operations, Sanitation, Maintenance, and Production teams to ensure products are manufactured, packed, and distributed in compliance with regulatory, customer, and company requirements.
The FSQA Supervisor provides daily leadership on the production floor, drives continuous improvement initiatives, manages food safety and quality systems, supports audit readiness, and has the authority to stop production when food safety or product quality risks are identified.
The schedule is Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM, with occasional weekend work depending on audits or customer inspection requests.
Administer the Lineage Safety Program at the facility level to ensure team members are working in a safe, controlled, and risk-free environment.KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead and maintain the facility's Food Safety and Quality Management System, ensuring compliance with FDA, FSMA, SQF, customer, and company requirements.
- Serve as the site's food safety leader and support all aspects of the SQF Food Safety Program.
- Manage and maintain the facility Food Safety Plan, including hazard analysis, preventive controls, monitoring, verification, validation, and corrective action activities.
- Ensure compliance with HACCP plans and Critical Control Point (CCP) requirements.
- Monitor Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), sanitation standards, food safety requirements, and quality expectations throughout production and repack operations.
- Oversee metal detection, foreign material prevention, inspection programs, and quality verification processes.
- Review and verify production, sanitation, quality, and food safety records to ensure accuracy, completeness, and audit readiness.
- Ensure all labels, specifications, and regulatory requirements are accurate and compliant.
- Maintain audit readiness and lead participation in SQF, FDA, customer, third-party, and internal audits.
- Manage customer food safety and quality requests, investigations, and corrective action responses in a timely and professional manner.
- Lead investigations involving customer complaints, foreign material findings, quality incidents, food safety deviations, and non-conformances.
- Supervise, coach, develop, and evaluate Food Safety, Quality, and Sanitation team members.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain equipment calibration checks
- Identify facility training and support needs on quality systems, policies, procedures and processes
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Biology, Food Safety, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum 2 years of Food Safety and Quality Assurance experience within a food manufacturing, food processing, repack, produce, protein, refrigerated, frozen food, or similar food production environment.
- Minimum 2 years of supervisory or leadership experience.
- HACCP certification or formal HACCP training required.
- Experience supporting or managing SQF-certified food manufacturing facilities.
- Strong working knowledge of FDA FSMA requirements and preventive controls
- Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated supervisory skills with emphasis on guiding and developing a team, customer service, communications, and planning
- Ability to work in temperatures as low as -20 Fahrenheit/-25 Celsius in cold storage sites or up to 100 Fahrenheit/37 Celsius in dry storage sites while wearing company provided personal protective equipment and freezer gear
- Must be comfortable with various noise levels, at times, can be loud
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- PCQI (Preventive Controls Qualified Individual) certification.
- SQF Practitioner certification or qualification.
- Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred.
- Experience managing allergen preventive controls programs.
- Experience in produce, frozen food, protein, ready-to-eat (RTE), or repack operations.
- Experience working directly with major retail or food manufacturing customers and managing customer investigations and audit requirements.
