Warehouse Automation Process Controller – Nights (Sun-Wed 10hrs shift)

We are currently seeking an Automation Process Controller to join our Stock Team at our new, partly automated facility in Peterborough. The working hours for this position are 18:00-04:30 (Sunday to Wednesday).

About the role:

As an Automation Process Controller, you will be responsible for remotely operating cranes using our Automation and WMS systems, ensuring that stock movements are timely and meet warehouse needs. This role offers a deep understanding of our business operations and involves no heavy lifting. Based at our Peterborough depot, you will be part of a team of around 12 people working across all three shifts reporting to your Stock Office Team Leader, as our warehouse operates 24/7. We are seeking a flexible candidate who can cover shifts when needed. The role involves Front Desk interaction with our own delivery/collection’s drivers and those of our customers, direct communication with warehouse staff to resolve their stock inquiries, reporting any issues, and providing an accurate handover for the next shift. Additionally, it requires the ability to make decisions and handle multiple tasks during your shift. Training will be provided during the day for the first few weeks.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Take an active role in investigating stock queries and discrepancies influenced by internal requests and customer queries.

  • Support in systemically ensuring the smooth flow of stock inbound and outbound to our Coldstore.

  • Manage and maintain Automation and WMS systems.

  • Monitor and report system performance.

  • Collaborate with the engineering team to rectify faults.

  • Action and monitor the site shared inbox, ensuring email queries are answered in an appropriate time frame.

  • Provide excellent Customer Service to our numerous customers through email and by phone.

  • Maintain commitment and positive relationship with customers.

  • Provide data to customers to improve performance and support in ensuring the site meet KPIs.

  • Manage the NCR process, ensuring customers are informed of any discrepancies.

  • Set pick up’s/delivery appointments based on service and schedule requirements.

  • Interface with customer base to facilitate problem resolution and improvement opportunities.

  • Ensure carrier/customer accessorial costs are communicated timely.

What are we looking for?

  • Professional customer services and organisation skills

  • Strong attention to detail.

  • Previous experience working on Night shift preferable, but not essential.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Self-motivated, team player with the ability to use own initiative.

  • Administration skills – Knowledge on warehouse system software

  • Good numeracy and literacy skills

  • PC Literate including MS Office (e.g., Outlook, Excel).

  • Knowledge of customer care in shipping and transportation

  • Experience of working with WMS (warehouse management systems) – is a bonus but not essential.
