The Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the operational activities of the warehouse, ensuring optimal productivity, efficiency, and adherence to safety standards. This role involves managing budgeting, labor scheduling, space and equipment utilization, safety and security protocols, and maintaining high housekeeping and sanitation standards. The ideal candidate will leverage people, processes, and technology to meet and exceed customer service standards.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Team Management: Lead, train, and provide performance feedback to direct reports, fostering an environment of productivity and effectiveness.
  • Operational Improvement: Continuously refine procedures for verifying incoming and outgoing shipments, handling merchandise, and managing warehouse inventory.
  • Collaboration: Partner with sales, inventory control, and operations support teams to ensure product availability aligns with business needs.
  • Labor Planning: Forecast long-term labor requirements based on sales trends and management input.
  • Performance Metrics: Drive the achievement of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) related to cost, productivity, customer service, profitability, and team performance.
  • Safety Compliance: Ensure facility operations comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations, promoting a culture of safety among team members.
  • Data Analysis: Analyze operational reports to identify trends and recommend actionable solutions to management.
  • Interdepartmental Relations: Build and maintain collaborative relationships with Finance, HR, Sales, Continuous Improvement, and other departments.

Minimum Requirements (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities):

  • Experience: 5+ years of warehouse operations or direct management experience.
  • Industry Knowledge: Experience in warehouse fulfillment or e-commerce management in environments involving onsite ordering, picking, packing, and shipping.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
  • Leadership Abilities: Strong management skills with a focus on team development, customer service, effective communication, and strategic planning.
  • Presentation Skills: Ability to clearly present information to customers, clients, and employees at all levels.
  • Computer Proficiency: Strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite and warehouse management software.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to work in extreme temperatures (as low as -20°F/-25°C and up to 100°F/37°C) while wearing appropriate personal protective equipment. Must be able to lift a minimum of 40 lbs./18 kgs., with weight varying by facility.
  • Flexibility: Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including weekends as needed.
  • Noise Tolerance: Comfortable working in environments with varying noise levels.
