Grade 4 Team Leader - Forklift Operations, Hume Rd

At our Hume Road facility in Melbourne, we are seeking a hands-on Grade 4 Team Leader – Forklift Operations to join our Local Transport team.

This role combines operational forklift duties with frontline leadership.

You’ll not only operate safely and efficiently but also guide a small team, ensuring compliance, performance, and the smooth execution of daily loading and unloading activities.

Key Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

• Safely operate forklifts to load/unload transport trucks

• Direct, support, and oversee a small team to achieve operational goals

• Set clear performance expectations and monitor progress

• Plan and organise transport loads with the support of the wider transport team

• Monitor load safety and efficiency to ensure timely dispatch

• Complete and check relevant documentation and records

• Estimate load limits for safe storage and transport of goods

• Lead by example in upholding safety standards, COR compliance and hazard management

• Contribute to toolbox talks, continuous improvement, and team development

• Step into operational duties where required to support your team

What You Bring

• A strong safety-first mindset with knowledge of Chain of Responsibility (COR)

• Current forklift licence and proven operational experience

• Leadership or supervisory experience in a warehouse/transport environment

• Ability to communicate clearly, set expectations and support team development

• Strong organisational skills with attention to detail and accuracy

• Commitment to continuous improvement and collaborative team culture
