The VP of Engineering for LinOS is the most senior technology resource exclusively focused on one of the most audacious software builds the warehouse industry has ever seen. This role is accountable for all the engineering resources building the web apps, mobile apps, APIs, and integrations with existing warehouse management and control systems that collectively make up the LinOS platform. Ultimately, LinOS will be at the heart of our every one of our 400+ global warehouses helping to achieve Lineage’s vision of being the world’s most dynamic temperature-controlled logistics company.

We leverage cloud services, open-source and proprietary software components, and external teams to augment our capabilities with sufficient capacity. This means that in addition to being a hands-on technologist and leader, you also need to be review and collaborate with internal and external partners to deliver.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of internal and external resources to design, build, test, and deploy a differentiated warehouse execution platform
  • Manage a multimillion-dollar product budget
  • Set goals and expectations both within the team and with other technical and functional leaders and deliver to them
  • Maintain relationships with vendors and partners; negotiate contracts and renewals
  • Ensure sound architectural decisions are made and documented
  • Work closely with product management to understand business requirements and associated priorities
  • Collaborate with data scientists to move proof-of-concept algorithms and decision support systems into production use
  • Collaborate with cloud engineers, business stakeholders, subject matter experts, and end users (among others) to solve complex problems and resolve disagreement with informed, rational, and practical solutions
  • Mentor and provides guidance to other resources - both technical and non-technical
  • Identify, plan, estimate, execute, and track software engineering work across a large, diverse team
  • Grow and maintain a broad and deep knowledge of supply chain operations and associated technologies
  • Travel domestically and occasionally internationally to meet with team members and partners

Education and Work Experience:

  • University degree in computer science, software engineering, or IT management
  • 12+ years of direct software application engineering experience including at least 6 years as a software engineer and an equivalent amount of time spent leading software engineering teams
  • Prior work managing projects with budgets of at least $5M / year
  • Knowledge of supply chain processes and associated technologies
  • Prior logistics software development experience is preferred
