Maintenance Engineer - Working 4 on 4 off 12 hour day shifts 06:00 - 18:00.

Salary ranges from £42,978 - £47,000

Peterborough opened in March 2018 and is a fully automated warehouse with space for 75,000 pallets, this location is a critical link between our 14 UK sites. In 2024 we are expected to expand our Peterborough site with further pallet capacity in a 4th warehouse.

Due to continuing expansion, we are looking to add two additional Maintenance Engineers to the team to help provide preventative and reactive maintenance on electrical and mechanical equipment. This is a vital role to keep operations running and there is a huge potential to develop both in skills but also in your career. This role will report directly into an experienced Engineering Manager.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Resolve breakdowns, reduce downtime, and improve plant reliability

• Support the maintenance and wider team in working together to solve problems to keep our facility moving

• Maintain, repair and perform evaluations on electrical apparatus, motors, wiring, electrical and electronic components of machinery and equipment per electrical codes and standards

• Maintain, repair and perform evaluations on refrigeration systems, building infrastructure and material handling equipment

• Complete work order tasks and ensure all performed work is logged into the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) daily

• Operate cutting torch and other welding apparatus to cut or join metal parts

• Monitor contractors working on or near refrigeration systems, ensuring they are following all regulatory and company safety standards, policies, and procedures

• Utilize onsite motorized lift as needed while operating, inspecting, calibrating, and maintaining equipment

• At times work at heights of up to 30 metres

What are we looking for?

• Qualified in Electrical Engineering with Mechanical Engineering experience (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent)

• Experience of working with automation

• Apprenticeship trained would be a big advantage

• Good interpersonal skills and enjoy being in a team

• Willingness to learn and improve your skills

• Ability to work in the cold, you will sometimes work in a freezer environment – approximately minus 25 Celsius – just like working in the freezer; but we provide full PPE including coats, hats and boots
