We have an immediate opening for a Bakery Research & Development Technician to join our 1st Shift Team! Hours for position are 7 AM- 3:30 PM Monday-Friday; flexibility required to work additional hours as needed during 1st Shift hours of 6 AM-6 PM. Pay rate starts at $21 per hour and increases depending on experience.

We are Ever Better Eating, Inc. a Pittsfield, NH company known for our hand formed pizza crusts and home-made sauces. You may know us as Rustic Crust - American Flatbread.

Position Overview:

The Bakery R&D Technician will play a crucial role in the development and innovation of new pizza products and processes as well as monitor our current products for optimal quality and performance. This position involves hands-on work, testing and refining recipes, collecting data, and ensuring that new products meet quality and safety standards. The ideal candidate will have a passion for baking, strong analytically, organized, and the ability to work collaboratively with the production and other teams.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Formulate and test new bakery recipes, ensuring consistency and quality.
  • Conduct experiments to optimize flavor, texture, shelf life, and overall product performance.
  • Document and analyze test results to refine and improve recipes.
  • Work closely with the extended R&D team, production staff, and quality control to troubleshoot and resolve issues
  • Communicate findings and progress through detailed reports and presentations.
  • Assist in the scale-up of successful recipes for large-scale production.
  • Maintain accurate records of all experiments, formulations, and test results.
  • Ensure all documentation is up-to-date and easily accessible for review and analysis.
  • Prepare and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for new processes and recipes.

Qualifications:

  • Certifications or Degree in Food Science, Baking, Culinary Arts, or a related field.
  • Experience in a bread or pizza bakery, food production, or R&D environment preferred.
  • Strong understanding of baking principles, ingredients, and techniques.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and data analysis software.
