Contingent Workforce Manager
Take Command Health
About Take Command
Take Command is a start-up on a mission to improve the healthcare system, starting with health insurance. Pragmatically speaking, we help employers reimburse employees for individual insurance instead of offering a traditional one-size-fits-all group plan. We believe this model can empower employees (when they have the right support) to be savvy healthcare consumers and have a transformative impact on the entire healthcare system.
Let’s be honest—health insurance is usually a confusing, frustrating, and even emotional experience for people. We want to fix that with a new model, great technology, and a superior user experience. We have made a great start, but we need your help to fully realize our long-term vision.
About the Role: We’re hiring a Contingent Workforce Manager that will report to our Director, Strategic People Operations, to lead and execute our contingent and seasonal labor strategy. This critical role ensures our external workforce is aligned, efficient, and ready to meet operational demands year-round. You will manage a mix of 1099 contractors, as well as our contingent vendor relationship(s) while partnering closely with People Operations, Finance, and Department leadership.
About the Team: Our Seasonal Operations Support (SOS) program plays a vital role in this strategy—providing flexible, mission-driven opportunities for workers to support clients during peak periods. SOS is designed to create career pathways and meaningful work experiences for individuals seeking flexible employment options, allowing us to combine operational excellence with social impact.
What You’ll Do
- Own the day-to-day management of contingent workforce operations, including hiring, onboarding, scheduling, compliance, performance tracking, engagement activities, and offboarding.
- Partner with internal teams to secure training materials, manage LMS content (Rippling), and ensure the contingent workforce is fully trained.
- Manage vendor relationships, ensuring SLA compliance, quality standards, and operational KPIs through regular business reviews.
- Assist in forecasting and planning workforce needs across seasons by collaborating on capacity models that align staffing strategies with business growth and peak periods.
- Maintain operational rigor through headcount tracking, labor compliance, and documentation.
- Continuously optimize contingent labor strategies, identifying gaps, improving workflows, and enhancing scalability, quality, and operational efficiency.
What You Bring
- 5+ years of proven experience owning a contingent workforce, BPO/vendor management, or workforce operations within fast-paced or seasonal environments.
- Strong experience in workforce planning, forecasting, headcount modeling, and resource allocation.
- Analytical mindset with hands-on experience using tools like Excel, Looker, BI, or similar platforms for workforce data analysis.
- Deep understanding of labor compliance, SLA management, and vendor governance.
- Highly organized, proactive, and capable of managing competing priorities while maintaining operational discipline.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to engage across technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience managing cross-functional training deployment in an LMS environment.
- Familiarity with workforce scheduling systems (Rippling, Deputy) and communication tools (HubSpot, Zoom Phones, Intercom) preferred.
Bonus Points
- Experience in healthcare, technology, or high-growth startup environments.
- Knowledge of AI applications in customer support and workforce management.
- Experience using Rippling HRIS.
Compensation: $110,000-$120,000 + 10% bonus
