Director of Insurance Operations
Take Command Health
About Take Command
Take Command is a start-up on a mission to improve the healthcare system, starting with health insurance. Pragmatically speaking, we help employers reimburse employees for individual insurance instead of offering a traditional one-size-fits-all group plan. We believe this model can empower employees (when they have the right support) to be savvy healthcare consumers and have a transformative impact on the entire healthcare system.
Let’s be honest—health insurance is usually a confusing, frustrating, and even emotional experience for people. We want to fix that with a new model, great technology, and a superior user experience. We have made a great start, but we need your help to fully realize our long-term vision.
About the Role:
We are looking for an operational leader to oversee the foundational systems and processes that power Take Command’s HRA and insurance solutions. This role is responsible for ensuring our platforms run smoothly, efficiently, and reliably, delivering a seamless experience to our clients and internal teams alike. You’ll lead the Enrollment, Payments, and Carrier Account Management teams, driving excellence in execution and scalability across key operational functions.
As the steward of our core operations, you will identify and implement process improvements, optimize workflows, and ensure cross-functional alignment to support company growth. You’ll work closely with internal stakeholders and external partners to build the infrastructure that supports innovation while maintaining accuracy, timeliness, and compliance. This is a high-impact role ideal for someone who thrives on building systems, leading teams, and delivering operational excellence at scale.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee Payment Operations for outbound premium payments to carriers and reimbursement of eligible claims to employees.
- Manage the Carrier Account Management team and deepen our integration and performance with carrier partners, including SOPs and technical capabilities.
- Lead the Enrollment function to ensure accurate, timely, complete, and accurate submission of insurance applications.
- Monitor and report on operational KPIs, including SLA adherence, error rates, throughput, and partner satisfaction.
- Collaborate with Compliance, Product, and Experience teams to drive continuous improvement.
- Prepare operations for Open Enrollment and other high-volume cycles with a focus on resiliency and accuracy.
Requirements:
- 7+ years in insurance, benefits, or healthcare operations, with a deep understanding of health benefits workflows.
- Experience leading enrollment, billing, or back-office operational teams.
- Familiarity with HRA/ICHRA plans and working with carrier partners preferred.
- Strong analytical and systems thinking skills.
- Track record of scaling teams and building operational processes that drive performance and accountability.
Compensation: $140,000 - $160,000 plus a potential 15% bonus
