Job Title: Environmental Health and Safety Director

Job Description

The Environmental Health & Safety Director will develop, coordinate, and implement safety and occupational health policies and procedures across multiple TemperPack facilities to promote and ensure effective safety operations in the organization.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Collaborates with management at all TemperPack facilities to develop, prepare, and implement safety policies and procedures
  • Ensures compliance with all state, federal, and local safety laws and regulations
  • Manages a team of Safety Managers in various TemperPack locations
  • Leads the direction of safety committees and other safety programs
  • Stops operations and activities that could harm employees or equipment
  • Conducts manager and employee training on applicable safety standards
  • Responsible for the enforcement of Company’s Safety Manual and consistent standards throughout TemperPack facilities
  • Communicates and collaborates with OSHA and other regulatory bodies as necessary
  • Conducts safety inspections and audits to ensure company and employee compliance
  • Responsible for applicable state’s Worker’s Compensation and claims process
  • Manages accident and incident report process
  • Other duties as necessitated by the business

Qualifications

Experience and Skills:

  • 10+ years of safety experience in a manufacturing or equivalent environment required
  • Leadership experience managing safety professionals
  • Current knowledge of state and federal applicable OSHA standards
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Capacity for fast-paced work and adaptability to change
  • Self-directed learning and retention of training
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline preferred

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to travel to TemperPack facilities as needed
  • Prolonged standing for 8-12 hours
  • Able to lift up to 40 pounds unassisted
  • Able to reach, bend, kneel and climb while performing repetitive tasks
  • Ability to work in hot and cold environments
  • Able to react and respond quickly to noises, smells, visual hazards, and alerts
