Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented EHS Specialist to support our Environmental, Health & Safety program directly in Richmond, VA and generally across our three manufacturing locations. The ideal candidate will be organized, thorough, and prompt, with a strong commitment to maintaining safe operations throughout the manufacturing process. This individual will work closely with the EHS Training Manager, Maintenance, Production, Quality, Warehouse, and other support functions to ensure compliance with all EHS regulations and standards.
This position is based in Richmond, VA, and reports to the Director EHS. Compensation and benefits are competitive and commensurate with experience level.
Essential Job Functions
- Assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of EHS programs and policies.
- Conduct regular EHS audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with regulations.
- Investigate incidents and near-misses and develop corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Support the EHS Training Manager in delivering EHS training programs to employees.
- Monitor and analyze EHS performance metrics and prepare reports for management.
- Monitor and document all OSHA required logs and forms to remain in compliance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement by setting clear expectations with regards to EHS processes and procedures.
- Coach/mentor assigned department safety representatives in performing pre-shift safety meetings and enforcing safety policies and procedures throughout their assigned departments.
- Address and funnel feedback from associates to management teams with regards to safety concerns and best practices.
- Stay current with EHS regulations and industry best practices.
- Other duties as necessitated by the business
Experience and Skills:
- Strong knowledge of EHS regulations and standards or an aptitude to develop them.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Capacity for fast-paced work and adaptability to change
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline, or significant similar professional experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
- A minimum of 1-5 years of relatable experience within a manufacturing environment.
Physical Requirements:
- Be on your feet for 10-12 hours
- Able to lift 40 pounds unassisted
- Able to reach, bend, kneel and climb while performing repetitive tasks
- Ability to work in hot and cold environments
- Able to correctly wear PPE for entire shifts
- Able to react and respond quickly to noises, smells, visual hazards, and alerts
