Position Summary

As a Financial Controller, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing the services segment’s financial operations, including financial reporting, financial processes, and internal controls, in an effort to optimize its fiscal success and integrity

Rekor is excited to hire a strong, talented and knowledgeable Financial Controller to join our Finance team and will directly report to our Corporate Controller. We are looking for an entrepreneurial-minded, experienced finance manager who will enjoys managing the month end closing, will lead a small dynamic diverse high performing team, and who has technical accounting expertise to include job costing and project management.

The Contribution:

  • Financial Reporting: Prepare and oversee the production of accurate and timely financial statements, including income statement and balance sheet analysis on a monthly basis.
  • Process Building: Create and improve efficient financial and operational processes to drive more efficient financial reporting
  • Compliance: Establish and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with financial regulations and policies. Coordinate audits with external auditors.
  • Strategic Planning: Contribute to strategic planning by providing data-driven financial insights. Assist in forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis to guide decision-making. Partner with leadership to identify opportunities for cost control and revenue enhancement.
  • Cash Management: Monitor and manage cash flow, ensuring the availability of funds for day-to-day operations and cash flow assistance across other segments.
  • Supervision and Leadership: Manage and lead a team of financial professionals, providing guidance and oversight in their day-to-day activities.

Success will evidence itself in the following ways:

  • Timeliness and accuracy of financial reporting (internal, external, and regulatory).
  • Quality of internal controls and compliance with SOX and SEC requirements.
  • Team performance, including development and retention of top talent.
  • Efficiency improvements in financial processes and systems.
  • Positive feedback from internal and external stakeholders on financial support and insights.

A highly energetic and customer focused individual who is knowledgeable about and/or interested in the transportation technology industry and business savvy to deliver state of the art cutting edge technology solutions for our customers. You bring to the organization the following competencies:

  • MBA or CPA preferred; B.S. in Finance or Accounting required
  • Large national public accounting experience or experience with a publicly traded company
  • 6 - 10 years of Accounting experience with min 2+ years in management role
  • Strong understanding of accounting concepts, principles (GAAP), practices and procedures
  • Experience with computerized accounting systems
  • Deep understanding of GAAP, SOX requirements, and SEC reporting standards.
  • Advanced proficiency with Excel
  • Familiarity with project accounting including job costing and allocations
  • Strategic mindset with an ability to translate complex financial data into actionable business insights.
  • High degree of professionalism and integrity to handle confidential information
  • Excellent organizational skills, effectiveness in prioritizing work and work of others, ability to multitask, and comfortable with ambiguity
  • Collaborative approach with the capacity to partner with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong attention to detail, highly organized and able to meet deadlines
  • Proven ability to build and mentor high-performing teams.
  • Adaptable to organizational change
  • Position is based Columbia MD with flexibility for hybrid work arrangements
  • Travel requirement : 5% domestic
