Job Summary
The Vice President of Sales is a pivotal leader responsible for driving revenue growth across both the employer and health plan payer markets. This role requires a combination of strategic oversight and hands-on execution, as the VP of Sales will be directly involved in selling, pitching, and closing deals while also guiding the sales team. The VP will develop and implement sales strategies, identify new business opportunities, cultivate key client relationships, and analyze market trends to optimize sales performance. This player-coach role is integral to the company’s ongoing growth and success.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute comprehensive sales strategies that align with the company's overall objectives and revenue targets.
- Collaborate with Marketing, Engagement, Clinical, and Product teams to ensure the sales team has the resources and support needed to meet goals.
- Analyze sales data to identify performance trends and areas for improvement, leveraging insights to adjust future strategies.
- Maintain and deepen relationships with key clients and partners, while actively pursuing new business opportunities.
- Partner in the creation and management of the sales budget, ensuring optimal resource allocation to support growth and achieve targets.
- Stay current with industry trends, sales techniques, and technologies, recommending new approaches to maintain competitive advantage.
- Prepare and present regular sales performance reports to senior management, highlighting key metrics such as revenue growth, customer acquisition, and market share.
- Manage, mentor, and assist other sales representatives with deal-making, ensuring alignment with company goals.
- May build, lead, and manage a high-performing sales team, offering mentorship and guidance to help them meet individual and team objectives.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- May be responsible for building, leading, and managing a sales team.
Education and Qualifications
- BA/BS required; MBA preferred.
- 10-15+ years of sales experience, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
- Proven success in selling to both large employer groups and health plan payers.
- Demonstrated ability to grow revenue and consistently meet sales targets.
- Experience functioning as a player-coach, actively involved in sales and deal closure.
- Strong understanding of the full sales cycle, including lead generation, qualification, and deal closing.
- Ability to develop and implement effective sales strategies and make strategic decisions.
- Familiarity with CRM systems and other sales tools and technologies.
- Startup experience is a plus.
